College of the Day: Syracuse University

With its storied tradition as a basketball powerhouse, Syracuse University is certainly well known to across the country. Aside from athletics, Syracuse is also home to a highly respected communications and business programs. Syracuse admits about 50% of its applicants and has an enrollment of about 20,000, making it similar to the University of Connecticut, Clemson University, or the University of Pittsburgh. What makes Syracuse different from most colleges its size and reputation is that it is funded by tuition and private endowments, meaning admissions and cost do not restrictively favor New York residents.
