Not quite as popular by its formal name of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Virginia Tech is a national leader in higher education. In addition to its traditionally strong athletic programs, Virginia Tech maintains very high academic standards for its prospective freshman. Its campus in Blacksburg is about five hours south of here.
